Rehearsal Dinner

A rehearsal dinner is an informal dinner after the wedding rehearsal. This meal takes place night before the actual wedding. It is a chance for the wedding party to know each other better mostly for the groom and the bride. It is chance for the groom and the bride to thank everyone who helped planning the wedding. It is not necessary to have a rehearsal dinner compulsorily. You are going to eat on the pre-wedding day anyways then why not eat with the loved ones. So, rehearsal dinner is arranged.

Paying for the dinner

It is typical for the groom’s side to pay for the rehearsal dinner. However, it is also a fair idea for the groom and bride’s parents to split the costs. It is the groom’s mother who usually plans for the rehearsal dinner. However, if both are going to pay for the meal then probably both should plan together. The guest list would include bride and groom and the other guests invited for the wedding party like family members, friends, officiates, and some out of town guests too.

Location for the meal

The location for this rehearsal dinner could be a restaurant or a private home. Mostly this event is not formal. There is also an option for arranging a semi formal rehearsal too. At this type of meal the wedding members do not wear the same kind of attire that would be worn at the actual wedding. Sometimes this wedding rehearsal is also held at a private home. There could be cocktail parties or pool parties. This would make the rehearsal dinner fun and unforgettable. Obviously you would not want a photographer or a video tape for this rehearsal dinner. Wedding is just one time special event that would occur in your life and it cannot be duplicated.

Invitation

The wedding rehearsal invitation cards are sent some days after sending the actual wedding invitation cards. While inviting the out of the town guests, make it as much informal as possible. Simply drop in the line letting them know the place and the time of the rehearsal wedding dinner. You can also tell them that you would love to see them at the dinner and if they are somewhere near the town they can definitely drop in for the dinner. You should be polite about requesting for their company. However, do not be too pushy as they would be coming from out of the town. Do not make the invitation cards very much expensive instead let them be simple.

Affordable rehearsal dinner

Some people think that really cannot afford the rehearsal dinner-but you can. This is especially true when you arrange for a rehearsal dinner in your backyard instead of some expensive restaurants or catering halls. Relaxed backyard barbeques would be great as it would allow people to know each other better. You can also set up some simple games for entertainment at the rehearsal dinner and have an exciting dinner without even spending much.
